User Comments: Ah, Peter Sellers does it again. Nobody does better B grade comedy than he does. I am really surprised that film was released on DVD, as it was considered one of Seller’s failures, as Blake Edwards once put it “..so, I gather this film will not be coming to a cinema near me..?” He words were almost true; this film did do some showings but was pulled as it failed. Made on the cheap, and only having one big name to the list (although, Jo Ann Pflug and Pat Morita went on to make some great careers), the audience wasn’t ready for this American attempt at “Carry On Doctor”. The jokes have aged, but the concept is rather amusing. A plotline developing on the whole “doctors screwing us over” is very much alive today, and many of us would agree that it can go too far. This DVD is from the Umbrella label of “Popcorn Films” which I believe to be there B grade title. The film transfer is OK; it looks as though the film was made on low-grade stock and entirely on location. Having viewed this film some years earlier, I only have a Picture Time Video VHS to use in comparison, and the DVD is somewhat better. However, Umbrella appear to have made some obvious trimmings. Certain scenes have been cut either because the master was cut or the censors had a field day. Some lines involving the homosexual persuasion have been omitted as well as a nude scene involving a drunken doctor showing his “patient” how her breasts will start to sag. Although, it is beyond me how everything else stayed like allusions and general sleazy activity (as well as a drunken circumcision scene). All in all, what can I say? I purchased this cheaply priced DVD as I am a Peter Sellers fan oh, and the great scenes involving Jo Ann Pflug and her short short skirts and undies, but steer clear if you want great side splitting comedy.
Rating for show itself: 5/10 – lacks true potential
Rating for DVD extras: 2/10 – some of the trailers are just scenes from the feature it’s advertising.

The late great Peter Sellers in his most forgettable role.
